SVERIGES INTERNATIONELLA TALANGER (SIT) WILL LAUNCH THE SIT SAMTAL SERIES TOMORROW with our first panel discussion. We expect 100 people in total to assemble at Stockholms Länsstyrelse and participate in a dialog centered around the need to integrate the foreign academics already here into the Swedish labor market.
CREATING A DIALOG to us means that we give our members a voice and create a platform to make this voice heard. Because it is important that we make this voice heard in the context of a conversation, we needed all the players present. Thus, we designed our panel discussion to give our members a voice and to include all the people that can lend insight into the topic so that the learnings could be both practical and useful.
ALL TOGETHER NOW. First, we invited all SIT members, via our LinkedIn group, to send in their questions to us. For example, when seeking a qualified job in Sweden, what do you want to know? Ask and make your voice heard! We announced that these questions would be delivered directly to the panelists during the discussion. (The panelists represent private and public business, government, language education, and diversity consulting.)
BEST PRACTICES ANYONE? The onous of finding a qualified job isn't only on the foreign academic. Sure, it is vital for each individual to find a way to earn money and support himself or herself, but what about the effect on society and on the country, if he or she cannot find a job (or rather, if it takes 5 to 7 years to do so)? We invited members of the business world to attend our event so that from the discussion (and also from the published results) we could present insights and best practices that would be useful to them, too. What can companies do to find foreign talent? -to welcome them? -to incorporate them? -to realize that their talent is vital for both the company- and the country?
A CHANCE FOR BOTH SIDES TO MEET, TOO. Roughly 50 SIT members and 50 people from the business world will sit in the audience and listen to our keynote speaker's research findings on the labor market and then the panelists' answers in the form of advice and recommendations. After a brief question and answer period, there will be an hour of mingling where the dialog can be continued. Stay tuned!
